Shankh Mudra (Conch Gesture): Purification and Energy Flow

Shankh Mudra, known as the Conch Gesture, is a symbolic hand mudra that resembles the shape of a conch shell. In Sanskrit, Shankh refers to the sacred conch, which is used in rituals to purify the environment and awaken energy. This mudra is closely associated with the Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) and Crown Chakra (Sahasrara), helping with communication, clarity, and spiritual awareness.

Shankh Mudra encourages mental clarity, enhances concentration, and promotes the smooth flow of prana (life energy) throughout the body.

How to Practice Shankh Mudra:

  1. Sit Comfortably: Sit in Sukhasana, Padmasana, or on a chair with a straight spine.

  2. Form the Mudra:

    • Interlock the fingers of both hands.

    • Fold the index fingers inward and press them together.

    • Keep the thumbs raised and touching each other.

  3. Place Hands on Knees: Rest your hands in your lap or on your knees with palms facing upward.

  4. Close Your Eyes: Relax your body and focus inward.

  5. Breathe Deeply: Take calm, even breaths, imagining energy circulating smoothly through your body.
